Anti-Ransomware Function and How to Use It

It’s easy to complain about security threats and do nothing about them, especially if you have next to nothing to lose. But what happens when you store confidential files on your system but have no protection tools against cyber threats like malware or ransomware?

Ransomware is nasty software that holds your data hostage until you pay up. It’s funny how cyber crooks named the notorious ransomware that cost many organizations millions of dollars WannaCry ransomware; it literally makes you want to cry!

Defining Ransomware

A movie I saw recently may help you understand how this malicious software works.

The name of the movie is Nerve; it’s about a daring online game called Nerve, where you are either a Watcher or a Player. The Watchers pay to see what sort of dares Players accept and complete, and the Players get paid when they finish each dare.

Pretty cool and exciting so far.

Can you sense a but coming? (There’s always a but.)

Nerve had a strict rule about snitches. If anyone leaked any information about the game to anyone, they would be kicked out of the game and then held prisoner, forced to do anything the game requested of them.

Terrified yet?

Here comes the scariest part, there were actually three categories of people in Nerve: Watchers, Players, and Prisoners. Once you become a prisoner of Nerve, they would clear out your bank account – the money you earned in the game + every dime you had before. Not only that, the nasty crooks behind the game would taunt you and your family and even leak your personal information just to mess with you further. But you could become free again if you won the final round, which was not an easy thing to do.

If you want to know what happened next, put Nerve on your movie list. But as for the topic of this article, this is the basis of how ransomware works, with one major difference. There is no reward, only hefty ransoms to be paid. (They take your data prisoner and may or may not release it when you win the final round, i.e., pay the ransom.)

How Does Ransomware Work?

Ransomware gets a hold of your system’s data and encrypts it to keep you from accessing it. So it basically locks you out of your computer, and the only way to get back in is to pay a fee to the ransomware dark lord. (Voldemort was the ultimate Dark Lord, but at least he was not a coward hiding behind his army, but ransomware developers are.)

Once you pay the ransom, there is no guarantee that they will release your encrypted data. That’s what we saw with the WannaCry ransomware attack. So what choice do you have to regain access to your data?

Well, the best choice of all is to stop the spreading of the poison from the get-go. In other words, you need to have a contingency plan in place to cut off any ransomware as soon as it starts the encryption process; enter Bitdefender anti-ransomware remediation.

What Is Bitdefender Anti-Ransomware Remediation?

Bitdefender anti-ransomware remediation is both a protection and prevention tool. In other words, it starts backing up and restoring your encrypted data as soon as it detects a ransomware attack. When ransomware starts to encrypt your data, you have a fighting chance to take back control of your data before you lose complete access. In other words, Bitdefender anti-ransomware remediation becomes your knight in shining armor.

We recommend you keep the Bitdefender anti ransomware turned on at all times; you never know when a cyber threat could emerge.

Does Bitdefender Anti-Ransomware Remediation Work on All Ransomware?

Let me answer this question with another question; does the COVID-19 vaccine work on all infectious diseases?

Just like any human virus, ransomware has many poisonous tricks up its sleeve. As technology advances, they become much more dangerous. However, security solutions are up to the challenge. Their developers are constantly monitoring the tech world to dig up dirt on new types of ransomware.

Bitdefender has a long track record of being one of the market’s most trustworthy security solutions (the Apple of the cybersecurity world, if you will). So if it were me, I would put my money on them to combat new cyber threats.

Their brand new protection tool, Bitdefender anti-ransomware remediation, enforces a new security protection technique that is already paying off.

Bitdefender Ransomware Protection Review

Bitdefender anti ransomware works perfectly against the targeted ransomware. It means that it does not work against all types of ransomware. (Just as the COVID-19 vaccine does not work on all types of infections.)

In a ransomware test done by PCMag.com, Bitdefender anti ransomware tool successfully stopped three ransomware families from encrypting the system’s files. It included The TeslaCrypt ransomware, BTC-Locker, and Locky ransomware.

Bitdefender ransomware tool uses an advanced technique to mislead ransomware into thinking your system is already infected. Ransomware software stays clear of already infected systems because the decryption process in such systems might not work at all, even if the requested ransom was paid.

It’s best not to rely on a Bitdefender ransomware tool alone to protect your system against ransomware threats. Instead, try to invest in Bitdefender Total Security or Bitdefender Antivirus Plus to bulletproof your system 100%.

Mega Cortex Ransomware Decryptor; Bitdefender’s Contribution to Ransomware Victims

According to zdnet.com, the MegaCortex ransomware decryptor was built by cybersecurity analysts from four top security organizations. The project consists of Bitdefender (in cooperation with Europol), the No More Ransom Project, the Zürich Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the Zürich Cantonal Police.

The MegaCortex ransomware decryptor is a free decryption tool that works with all variants of MegaCortex ransomware. You can download the MegaCortex ransomware decryptor from Bitdefender.

It’s natural to feel helpless against cybersecurity threats. But as you can see, there are brilliant individuals and elite organizations who make it their mission to protect people’s privacy. Worrying about being a ransomware victim won’t accomplish anything. What you can do is invest in trustworthy and capable security solutions, don’t click on suspicious links, open unfamiliar files or emails, never extract unsafe zip files, etc.

Conclusion

Ransomware is sneaky and mischievous, and although it may look undefeatable, it certainly has some vulnerabilities. Even if cyber crooks develop the perfect ransomware, which is next to impossible, there is always an anti-ransomware tool that comes to the rescue.

Bitdefender anti-ransomware tool is the lifeline every ransomware victim has been waiting for. It’s a tool that can nip vicious ransomware in the bud. Bitdefender has been one of the most trusted and popular security solutions on the market because the people behind it are 100% transparent about their products.

For example, Bitdefender anti ransomware is one of the best ransomware protection tools. However, it is not effective against all types of ransomware, which is totally understandable. How can Bidfenders’ developers fight something that does not yet exist?

What they can do is be one step ahead of cyber criminals by perfecting Bitdefender’s products continuously.

There are many security solutions you can choose. But as I value honesty and transparency, Bitdefneder is my number one option. How about you? You’re welcome to share your thoughts about what you want and expect from a cybersecurity organization in the comment section.
